City Councilman Jim Gennaro and his wife Wendy Phaff Gennaro had aggressively defended the horse and buggy owners to keep their businesses and remain in Central Park to no avail. Thank you for that great effort!
“Yes — the New York City Council has passed “Romanch’s Law,” which will phase out horse‑drawn carriages in Central Park and across the city by June 1, 2028”
The Central Park horse and buggy rides are legendary, a part of the history since 1858 and the heart and soul of New York City. What a marvelous traditional way for tourists and locals to have a family and / or romantic ride around the incredible Central Park. Many an engagement proposal has happened on these very horse and buggy rides.
Eliminating them based on the city council’s arguments that people have been killed and injured are irrational and ludicrous reasons based on a lack of careful analysis of the problems. The mindset, mentality and lack of logic of D.E.I.s.
For example, if a doctor kills a patient accidentally do you shut down the medical profession. If a cop kills someone by accident, do you eliminate the police department. If a teacher molests a child, do you end the teaching profession. If a motorist kills a pedestrian, do you eliminate automobiles. When a child was killed by an alligator at Disney World did, they close down Disney World. I could add thousands if not more arguments to show how stupid the City Council members are. The NYC Council has a very narrow biased approach to a simple resolution of the problem.
There are two ways to view the City Councils decision. It’s either a land grab for the stables where the horses are kept. Why? Over the past decade’s billionaire land developers have had their eyes on this prime real estate for development. Or it’s a foolish decision made without any logic applied.
There is good and bad in every profession and there are accidents and mishaps in every profession. If we applied the logic of the city council to other city issues, we would have no society. Perhaps the city council is comprised of members of the DSA left wing woke narrow minded ideology of progressivism?
Whoever they may be they have not thought this out logically and so I suspect there are underlying reasons that we don’t know.
