Kavish Batra led the Pledge of Allegiance at 7:30 pm. Larry Block played the Star Spangled Banner and Keep America, America. Jim Strawhorn read the Mission Statement, Jimmy Schwatzman did the roll call, and read the August 15, 2024 minutes. Arkadiusz Tomaszewski gave the financial reports.
Announcements: (1) Vote No on Proposition One. (2) Be aware that there is a new type of “no excuse” absentee ballot signed into law last year called “Early Mail” ballot. (3) A board member of the club arranged Canadian activist Pastor Artur Pawlowski to speak before the West Side Republican Club on October 8 and Medical Freedom Alliance on October 9, 2024. (4) Ed Lee, a grassroot activist, presented his passion and activism.
Lessons Learned: Past candidates gave advise to current candidates. Diane di Stasio, who ran against Gale Brewer for City Council, District 6 in 2023; Bernard Chow, who ran against Linda Lee for City Council, District 23 in 2023; and Rusat Ramgopal, who ran against Speaker Adrienne Adams for City Council, District 28 in 2023.
Ken Lam described his team of volunteers, and asked the candidates running to contact him.
Candidates who spoke were Bill Kregler against Nydia Velazquez for Congressional District 7; Joseph Chou against Grace Meng for Congressional District 6; Michael Zumblaskas against Jerry Nadler for Congressional District 12; Dion Powell against Gustavo Rivera for State Senate 33; Juan Pagan against John Liu for State Senate 16; Ruben Diario Cruz against David Weprin for State Assembly 24; and Jonathan Rinaldi against Andrew Hevesi for State Assembly 28.
Other speakers included Nathaniel Gavronsky, Isaiah Vega and Jimmy Schwatzman.
