You have a 12 Billion dollar New York City budget short fall so you think it is smart to raise real estate taxes, taxes on corporations and the rich.
That is a formula for disaster and we could go the way of Detroit who tried something similar. Mam dummy,you are chasing corporations out of the city to tax friendly states and are losing your tax base. Economics 101. When you lose that there is an avalanche of secondary and tertiary issues and losses of revenue that cause additional problems.
As corporations leave the city, jobs and tax revenue follow, office buildings and apartments go empty. People sell their houses because they are out of work and can’t pay the mortgages or rent and are forced to move to tax friendlier states where those corporations fled to along with the jobs.
Secondary businesses that thrived on all these corporate businesses and people go out of business as well and you lose, lose and lose.
Don’t raise taxes,lower them and incentivize companies to come and stay as they bring lots of people and tax revenue with them. Socialism won’t work. So stop feeding the sanctuary citie’s illegals who are causing this 12 billion dollar deficit in tax revenues.
Time to go back to college and study economics 101 and stop hanging out with AOC another who does not understand supply and demand economics even though she majored in economics in college. She may have been a good bar tender but she is lost in the world of politics and economics. She has trouble expounding what a good solid economic plan is for her city. She is economically illiterate.
If you want to kill business and revenue, raise taxes, overwhelm companies with regulations and paper work, squeeze every nickel and dime out of the people who feed your tax revenue to pay for the illegal’s who overwhelmingly most are on welfare.You and your predecessors make it impossible for commerce to move efficiently and cost effectively in and out of the city with tolls, Incentive pricing and all kinds of bike lanes, bus lanes, that create traffic jams where no one wants to come into Manhattan except the tourists.
The bike lanes backed up traffic and put 100s of mom and pop businesses out of business. I miss many of them but most of all I remember “Ben’s Best” deli on Queens Blvd. in Rego Park, Queens.
If you need money then get rid of your sanctuary city policies and send the illegal’s home. Corporations, businesses and middle class tax payers are tired of supporting the illegal free loaders. They came to America for free stuff to pick our pockets and you think that is good. It s not only bad but eroding everything from quality of life, infrastructure, decent medical care, quality of education and I could list another 50 problems created by sanctuary cities.
You are naive and a bleeding heart socialist. It’s time to lockup the city and shut the doors on illegal immigration and then hold on to your seat as revenues climb dramatically along with plenty of tax dollars. Budget deficits disappear and you then have a big beautiful surplus.
