Israel is a country that is constantly threatened and therefore always on high alert. The assault by Hamas and the deliberate and vicious murders of Israeli civilians was highly implausible as Israel is extremely careful, has an abundance of high tech surveillance equipment and military personnel surveilling the border 24/7. By some unlikely miracle there was a total breakdown of security which  as yet the cause has not been determined.
